Thank you for being interested in learning about the opportunities Speculator Volunteer Ambulance Corps (SVAC) has to offer. We extend a warm invitation to anyone in Speculator and Lake Pleasant to become a part of the SVAC family. We are your neighbors, your friends, and your fellow community members. We are volunteers from all walks of life, each contributing our unique skills and experiences to create a dynamic and supportive team. SVAC believes that a diverse group of volunteers enriches our organization, bringing different perspectives and skills. If you’re passionate about making a positive impact and eager to learn, SVAC is the perfect place for you. We offer various volunteer roles, allowing you to find the perfect fit for your skills and interests.
Motor Vehicle Operator (Driver):
A great place to start your SVAC journey is as a Motor Vehicle Operator (MVO). They provide a crucial foundation for our operation. As an MVO, you are responsible for the ambulance’s safe operation and the patient’s transport to the hospital. Depending on the emergency, MVOs may need to assist the EMTs. Training requirements include 2+ hours of ambulance orientation, CPR training, and shadowing a certified driver on three calls.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT):
Want a more in-depth role? Consider becoming an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). EMTs must undergo a comprehensive emergency medical training course. From responding quickly to medical emergencies to handling traumatic injuries and accident scenes, EMTs play a vital role by being on every ambulance call. Ongoing training is a crucial component, ensuring that our EMTs stay at the forefront of their skills and knowledge, renewing their certification every three years.
SVAC is more than an organization; it’s a family. As a volunteer, you’ll gain valuable skills and experiences and make a real difference in the lives of those in our community. Together, we provide around-the-clock pre-hospital care seven days a week to Speculator and Lake Pleasant, ensuring that help is just a call away. Join the SVAC family today! Applying is easy! Send an email to membership@svacems.org to request an application. We’re excited to welcome new faces and talents onto our team.
